The purpose of this program is to develop an enthusiasm for the outdoors in a safe and active way. Students will participate in a variety of physical activities where they will learn to effectively communicate and problem solve in teams. Students will develop skills to manager their own emotions and understanding of their and their team mates physical and social limitations and strengths as well as how these may change over time.
We want them to enjoy their time in the outdoors and learn the value that it has to offer for their health and their wellbeing. Students will be asked to observe and reflect how they and the environmental around them survives and adapts to its surroundings. Students will further identify and evaluate what are needs and what are wants today, in the past and in survival mode.
To help students foster a positive relationship with the outdoors, students will be given a camp challenge passport. Working with their instructor they will mark off individual or shared experiences in their passport. The camp challenge passport can then be taken home to encourage and promote continuation of their outdoor experiences.
Adventure Alternatives has mapped the Subjects, Strands and Content Descriptions as outlined in the National Curriculum as they apply to the theme, aims and activities for our Year 5 Camp Program. How these relate on the ground is provided in our Elaboration in our Staff Manual and the delivery of briefing and debriefing of activities by our instructors.
A detailed outline of what these are is provided in your camp proposal. Our elaborations are supplied as part of our booking process.

"Our Instructors enthusiasm, rapport and natural teaching ability was very obvious. The boys were drawn to him and his charisma was an advantage working with the boys. He had realistic expectations and was very flexible. I would not hesitate to recommend him as an instructor. Our students enjoyed their time with him and I’m confident they will remember him long after camp has finished."
